iamhomeschooling.com is a comprehensive homeschool website that provides valuable information and a vast compilation of resources to all homeschooling families, whether considering homeschooling, new to homeschooling, or veteran homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers nationwide will find helpful articles, support groups, umbrella schools, evaluators, curriculum resources, homeschool events and programs, printable planners and forms, organized links to educational websites and free resources, and more. Understanding the need for up-to-date information, and knowing first-hand how hard it is to find, we strive to keep our content current and relevant.

We also offer our own umbrella school for homeschoolers in the State of Florida. We operate as a home-based private school for grades K-12. We require annual attendance reporting in lieu of evaluations. Our school is affiliated with Florida Virtual School, and we can assist high school homeschoolers with dual enrollment at Florida community colleges and universities. Learn More

Using Math Manipulatives

Using Math Manipulatives

It was somewhat by accident that I started incorporating manipulatives into my children's math lessons—at least to the extent that I do. I can remember my son's Kindergarten workbook having punch out manipulatives in the back, but it was when I came across Rosamond Welchman-Tischler's Start with Manipulatives binder that I realized what an important role manipulatives could play in helping my kids learn. Not only because they offer hands-on learning experiences, but because they can make learning fun.

Geography for Homeschoolers

We like to incorporate geography into our children's curriculum every opportunity we get, so I'm always printing maps, breaking out the globe, referring to our world atlas, or referencing our United States wall map. And the World Wide Web makes it easier than ever to get a picturesque glance at the variety of cultures and lands around the globe.

Our School Day

My family needs routine. It's the one thing we all agree on! Schedules are a must. Rules are written down. Checklists get made. And chore lists...well, they are non-existent at the moment, but I have been secretly contemplating bringing them back....

Guest Post: Plate Spinning 101

I’m sure you've seen them: plate spinners. Usually part of a comedy or circus act, the star of the show gets plates, bowls, and other assorted round things spinning on poles or sticks. As inertia flags and the plates start wobbling, he must run from pole to pole, re-spinning the plates. At some point, it often becomes an effort in fruitlessness, and the plates crash to the ground.
