IAMHOMESCHOOLING.COM - YOUR #1 HOMESCHOOL RESOURCE

iamhomeschooling.com is a comprehensive homeschool website that provides valuable information and a vast compilation of resources to all homeschooling families, whether considering homeschooling, new to homeschooling, or veteran homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers nationwide will find helpful articles, support groups, umbrella schools, evaluators, curriculum resources, homeschool events and programs, printable planners and forms, organized links to educational websites and free resources, and more. Understanding the need for up-to-date information, and knowing first-hand how hard it is to find, we strive to keep our content current and relevant.

We also offer our own umbrella school for homeschoolers in the State of Florida. We operate as a home-based private school for grades K-12. We require annual attendance reporting in lieu of evaluations. Our school is affiliated with Florida Virtual School, and we can assist high school homeschoolers with dual enrollment at Florida community colleges and universities. Learn More

About Us

Yes, your child will be eligible for a Bright Futures Scholarship if enrolled in our school as long as the following conditions are met:

  1. Your child can document his or her coursework on FLVS or Florida dual enrollment transcripts;
  2. Your child has earned a GED; and
  3. Your child meets the general requirements for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

More specifically, since our school does not issue standard Florida high school diplomas, your child will need to earn a GED in order to qualify for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship (see Bright Futures Scholarship General Requirements).  In addition to a GED, your child must have official transcripts documenting your child's GPA and required coursework (see GED (General Educational Development) Applicants).  Since our school does not issue official transcripts, your high school student will need to obtain official FLVS or dual enrollment transcripts.

If your child cannot obtain official transcripts, then you may want to consider another option such as (1) being excluded from the diploma/GED & transcript requirement by registering your child with your school district as a homeschooler for grades 11 and 12 (see Home Education Applicants) or (2) enrolling your child in a private school that offers diplomas.  Keep in mind that private school transcripts and diplomas are not approved by the Florida Department of Education.  The owners of Florida private schools are solely responsible for establishing academic, graduation or promotion requirements.  It is wise to make sure that  diplomas and transcripts from a specific private school are accepted as documentation for a Bright Futures Scholarship, as well as accepted at the college your child is interested in attending.

Simply stated, if your child is enrolled in FLVS or is dual enrolled, earns a GED, and meets the general scholarship requirements (qualifying test scores, community service hours, etc.), then your child is eligible for a Bright Futures Scholarship.  If you have any questions or concerns or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Your website, information and umbrella school have been quite a blessing during our (short-lived) life in Florida. I have enjoyed homeschooling my  son and your site helped to give me the confidence that I could do it!  —Thanks, Kim T.
Thank you for replying so quickly to my email! I really appreciate that. I am going to be enrolling my son in your school. Your quick response has made me feel very assured that I would be able to reach you in case any questions came up and that is important to me since I have never done this before. I have found your site to be so helpful to me along this journey of deciding to school my son outside of the traditional methods. I will be gathering the required documents over the next few days and then I will mail them to you along with the payment for him. Thank you for taking the time to set up your website to help people who are wanting/needing to do something different with their children regarding their education. :)
