Cookin' Kidz offers homeschool classes that teach children a lifelong understanding and acceptance of healthly food choices through an interactive hands-on cooking program. The Edison & Ford Winter Estates offers a unique opportunity for home school families to learn together about the life and work of Thomas Edison and how our lives are impacted today by his genius. Edison’s work spanned many different fields ranging from electricity to plant science. Taking an interdisciplinary approach to science, invention and history, the Edison Ford Home School program will explore many of these topics. Each session examines a particular aspect of scientific achievement using engineering challenges, invention or local history. Grades K-6. Programs are led by Edison Ford education faculty and staff and include time to tour the historical homes, gardens, research lab and museum. (Fort Myers)
The Imaginarium Science Center offers monthly “Homeschool Day” events take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month! This exciting day offers homeschool families a fun-filled opportunity to explore educational exhibits, activities, and programs. Homeschool children of all ages learn together with their families, taking advantage of museum materials and knowledgeable education professionals. The Deering Estate at Cutler is an environmental, archeological and historical preserve offering a variety of homeschool educational programs. Includes the ECO-ACADEMY (ages 5 and up) , the Marine Conservation Science & Policy Service Learning Program (ages 9 and up), the Wildlife Conservation Studies (ages 9 and up), and the Global Studies Program (ages 5 and up). The Florida Aquarium offers monthly homeschool science classes and group homeschool programs. Each class uses inquiry based learning and hands-on experiments and activities to discover science. Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens offers a variety of homeschool programs specifically for students living along the First Coast (Northeast FL and Southeast GA). This unique opportunity allows students to get up close and hands-on with animals in a nurturing, learning environment with their peers. All classes begin and end at the PepsiCo Foundation Education Campus located at the south end of the Zoo’s main parking lot. As space is limited, parents generally do not sit-in. (Jacksonville)
