I am qualified to conduct annual homeschool evaluations for children of any age, grade level, and learning type. Given my training and professional experience, this includes English language learners and special needs students. I am also especially enthusiastic about supporting and evaluating Roman Catholic homeschooling families. I have 24 years’ teaching experience, including 8 years’ experience as a teacher-trainer in the Department of Teacher Preparation at Indian River State College and 6 years’ experience as homeschool Mom/teacher.
|What to Expect at Your Evaluation:||Evaluations are comfortable and relaxed, usually taking 20-30 minutes per child, in your home, my home, or at a neutral location. First, I will look through the student’s work with the parent and child. The child will lead a discussion with me and the parent by explaining and discussing his or her work and performance. (Details on what to expect will be emailed to parents prior to the evaluation appointment.) Then the parent(s) and I will meet so that I can answer any questions and provide counseling on relevant topics. At the end of the meeting, I will leave the required evaluation form with the parent.|
|Location(s):||Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties|
|Cost:||$40 first child, $20 second child, $10 third child; families with 4 or children who need a homeschool evaluation pay $75 maximum|

I make the evaluation for the student/s and parent/s feel comfortable in a "fun" nature. I use an approach to find out if the student is "ready" to move on. I evaluate the student's educational progress upon review of the portfolio and discussion with both student/s and parent/s. Parents are strongly recommended to attend the discussion (as long as they do not tell the answers for their child) ;-)|

This will allow me to view the portfolio quickly and efficiently. We can then have a video conference, or just talk via phone about the portfolio. I will then email you the documentation you need to submit to your local district office, within 24 hours. Originals can also be mailed, if you prefer. For in person evaluations, I send an information sheet to get to know the student(s) a little before we meet. I also include a checklist for any first time parents who are unsure what they should include in their portfolio. We then meet at your preferred location, and we have a very informal conversation about your year. I try to see if the parents would like support with anything, and I have the child tell me about their most favorite pieces from the year.|
